Josh Lord creates worlds where neon-lit futures collide with the ruins of forgotten empires. Inspired by cyberpunk visions—Blade Runner, Neuromancer, Akira—and the philosophical provocations of Jean Baudrillard, his work explores the tension of “high tech, low life.” Layers of color, fractured forms, and bold motifs pulse with energy, technology, and fleeting traces of human presence.
Familiar cultural symbols and fragments of mass media are stripped of their original meaning and transformed into ritual relics, inviting reflection on how the present may one day be remembered. His work is often accompanied by immersive soundscapes, created either by himself or in collaboration with Ash Wednesday and other musicians, adding a rich, sensory layer to the visual experience.
Josh Lord’s art examines the intersection of memory, culture, and imagination, inviting viewers to navigate worlds where past, present, and future coexist in layered, unexpected ways.
